CARPAGE

CARPAGE OBB’s sophomore effort absolutely blows away their debut EP, this is tight and above all assured. From the bass lines on CAST ASIDE, excellent vocals and backing vocals on all four tracks, to the contrapuntal guitar work, this is an achievement.
Some of the darkest, bleakest, and depressing lyrics I’ve heard in quite some time, they fit our times. Excellent release. Favorite track: Dark Times Ahead.

The Predator 03:40
Feline grace and eyes that burn my heart Wicked Soul she’ll tear my life apart Toy with me, she pulls me by the strings Addicted to the cruel pain she brings Can’t escape I never wanted to She feeds a need, a pain that’s vile and cruel Beckons me I never can resist Ecstasy, the more she will persist ‘And she’s haunting me. And she’s stalking me, The Predator!’ Snakelike grip upon my heart and soul Venom flowing, torture takes its toll Silence me with a cutting glance Talons raised, I watch her slow advance Unprepared for her lithe attack Down on the floor, I’m lying on my back Succubus, nocturnal predator She leaves me bleeding crying out for more ‘And she’s haunting me. The Predator! And she’s stalking me, The Predator!’ She calls, I fall, She calls, I fall, She calls... ‘And she’s haunting me. The Predator! And she’s stalking me, The Predator!’

Through the mists of time we have returned to here A world in decay lies before us and darkness looms The return of the past in ‘respectable’ guise The message the same through deception and travesty What will they do when there’s no one to blame? What will they do when there’s no one to blame? A terrible lie we have swallowed as truth Poison our minds, blind our reason and no one gains Only those drunk on power and fame Fall Down. Fall Down. Dark times ahead... Castigation, the conflagration fuels the hate Raping our minds... The downward spiral Toxic, vile And we reap what we sow! And we reap what we sow! A terrible truth before us All light is fading into darkness And no one gains here No one left now to blame The past comes back to haunt us

Cast Aside 03:41
Cast me aside, discard my broken heart Take all my hopes and dreams and throw them to the wind Your cruel eyes, your cold and empty smile They disillusion me and break my shattered soul Cast Me Aside, leave me on the shore No fond farewell or tears just heartless apathy Cast Me Aside, Cast Me Away, Cast Me Aside, Cast Me Away, Cast Me Aside What is it worth? This toxic deal of ours A castle built on sand crumbling to the ground A lesson learned, old now with regret A sad and wiser man, guarded, no more pain Cast Me Aside, leave me on the shore No fond farewell or tears just heartless apathy Cast Me Aside, Cast Me Away, Cast Me Aside, Cast Me Away, Cast Me Aside Cast me far away...

Reflections 05:06
So here I lie... Looking back to where it all began The Hourglass, tells me that my time is soon to come The Hourglass, tells me that my time is soon to come This game of chance we play No guarantees they say Reflecting on my life The wasted years they taunt An emptiness takes hold I watch my death unfold I fear for those I will leave behind What time we waste! Playing futile games and spurning chance I played it safe, let my dreams decay through fear and doubt I played it safe, let my dreams decay through fear and doubt This game of chance we play No guarantees they say Reflecting on my life The wasted years they taunt An emptiness takes hold I watch my death unfold I fear for those I will leave behind Then Fade. Endure. Then Fade

about

Reflections is the second coming from the minds of October Burns Black. Fronted by Rod Hanna, this release is a four track totem to the despair and unhappiness of our times and the human condition. As the title would suggest it is, by turns, introspective and outward looking.

Endure. Then fade....

...but hopefully not too much.
